Samantha Woll, the President of a prominent Detroit synagogue and a respected adviser to Democratic politicians, tragically lost her life at the age of 40. Her life was cut short on October 21 when she was found dead outside her home in Detroit’s Lafayette Park neighborhood, the victim of a fatal stabbing.

Woll held the position of Board President at the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, a significant institution in the Detroit area. The synagogue expressed its shock and sadness at her untimely death on their Facebook page, stating that they lacked detailed information at that time.

The Detroit Police Department, called to the scene, discovered a trail of blood that led them to her residence in the 1300 block of Joliet Place, where they made the grim discovery. Samantha Woll was a dedicated individual who contributed significantly to her community. She co-chaired the American Jewish Committee’s ACCESS Detroit Young Leadership Program and was the driving force behind the creation of the Muslim-Jewish Forum of Detroit. Her outstanding contributions were recognized in 2017 when she was honored by the Detroit Jewish News, which featured her in their ’36 under 36.’

In 2015, following the tragic November 2015 Paris attacks, Samantha Woll played a crucial role in fostering unity among high school students from both Muslim and Jewish backgrounds. She organized an essay and art contest at Wayne State University as part of the efforts of the Greater Detroit Muslim Jewish Solidarity Council.

Woll was deeply involved in political campaigns, serving as the deputy district director during Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin’s political campaign from 2019 to 2021. She had also been a part of the re-election campaign of Attorney General Dana Nessel.

In 2022, Samantha Woll took on the role of President at the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, where she made a lasting impact. Her tragic death sent shockwaves through Jewish and Democratic circles, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and community service that will be remembered and cherished.
