Oscar Pistorius 2023 Turbulent Legal Journey

Pistorius was initially found guilty of the manslaughter of Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013. He claimed to have mistaken her for an intruder, firing four shots through a locked bathroom door. The case took a dramatic turn when prosecutors argued that the act was intentional, leading to a more severe murder conviction in 2015.

In November, Pistorius was granted a second chance at parole during a hearing in Johannesburg. This opportunity came after he was wrongly deemed ineligible for early release in March. Having served eight and a half years in prison, the double amputee is now back home after being released from a South African prison.
