IIT Mandi director meat eating News: Laxmidhar Behera is recently in the news as he asked students to not consume meat if they wanted to “become good human beings”. He enforces boycotting the killing and consumption of animals. Animals have a symbiotic relationship with the environment. With the over-killing of animals, the balance between animals and nature is disrupted. He came up with this statement after Himachal and Uttarakhand witnessed heavy destruction due to torrential rains, cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides during monsoon from July to August.

Throughout his academic journey, Professor Behera has excelled in areas such as Intelligent Systems and Control, Vision-based Robotics, Warehouse Automation, Brain-Computer Interface, and Drone Technology.
